WHAT IS SUPIMA®?
Less than 1% of cotton grown worldwide is of the prized Pima ELS (extra long staple) variety used for luxury goods. SUPIMA® means “Superior Pima” and it is tightly regulated and allocated, grown in the Western United States. This superior Pima is the finest cotton grown anywhere in the world. HOW IS SUPIMA® DIFFERENT THAN REGULAR COTTON?
Not all cottons are created equal. SUPIMA® and standard cotton are two completely different species of cotton. SUPIMA® cotton’s fiber averages around 1.4 inches where as standard industry cotton is only about 1 inch in length. As a result, SUPIMA® is twice as strong as regular cotton, which makes for extraordinarily resilient products. The longer fiber resists pilling, breaking and tearing resulting in a longer-lasting, exceptionally soft fabric.
